01-01-2009 (Thursday) "To Deliver or Not To...?"

The debate on abortion came popping into my head earlier tonight.

It really is one that can't really ever be won.

For those against it...
Life starts at conception. Abortion = murder. Though in that case I think we should have actually lived 1 year 9 months by our first birthday. Does that mean people who abort their babies should be given a life sentence in prison for murder as well?

Those for it...
Those who opt to abort usually are those who are not able to nurture a child properly, which would lead to more problematic kids in the future -----> more crime in the future.
But if they know they can't nurture a child in the right ways, why get involved in casual sex in the first place? They should've known better.
On the other hand, its not a solution to discuss what they shouldn't have done when they're already pregnant but focus on how to deal with the foetus. So... its either abort or give up for adoption.

If abortion is banned and a baby is born that eventually ends up murdering ten other persons (or is involved somehow with it...) in his/her lifetime, is that justifiable? The fact that society has bias against those born out of wedlock is of no help to this likely outcome as well.

Then there's the issue of the life of the mother. If it were a definite death for the mother if she were to deliver the baby, what would be the 'right choice' then?

What do you say on the issue of abortion?

I say abortion should be banned lo. It really is murder to abort a baby. Legalising it will bring lots of problems too like people will not be afraid to have casual unprotected sex anymore cause they can simply chuck the baby away. This leads to social and health(STDs) issues. It's a whole different story though if the mother's life is in danger. Those for abortion say that their womb is theirs and they get to decide what to do with it. Well, that's like saying my fist is mine and I get to decide what I do with it, like punch you in the face, which is wrong.

i personally m more inclined against abortion. I'm jz trying 2 think of d other side of d story too.

I think the main problem is still casual, premarital n extramarital sex. Only those kinda sex leads to 'unplanned babies'.

of cos... there's d possibility of bad family planning but i'd like to think tat's a rarity. Like local cars becoming the topselling in the world. :)
