28-02-07 ...ooookaaaaaay....

Remember the girl who collapsed yesterday that I mentioned in my previous entry?

Today, early in the morning, we were asked to go to the hall for assembly(which we usually don't as Wednesdays are for CT sessions). The principal announced that despite all the efforts of the doctors to revive the girl, she has passed on yesterday evening. Wow... Now you should REALLY be grateful that you're alive... She was only 18 this year...

27-02-07 *yawn* Sleepy Day...

It's been one sleepy day today...

Well... she was bushed running the 2.4km NAPHA test anyway. But... REALLY!! It HAS been a sleepy day! And it WASN'T just me!! Walking everywhere, I was feeling like resting my head on my folded arms while sitting at the canteen table... Even the hard, wooden, dirty, germ-infested, saliva-covered canteen table seemed temptingly comfortable to sleep on all of a sudden. Then...

Huh? What's with the crowd?

"AMBULANCE"?? WOW...!! Someone actually fainted after foaming at the mouth while running the 2.4km NAPHA mock test. frightening...

Even the teachers were so anxious and 'panicky' that they were almost as if pushing the 'cart' like crossing the marathon finish line...!

... Scary how you could be just jogging and next thing you know, you wake up in the hospital after half a day of intensive care, eh? What's next...? Someone drowning in spaghetti that jammed up his/her nasal passage? Okay... Sorry... That WAS disgusting...

Why don't you just get on your kne... Okay, scratch that... Why don't you just say a silent prayer now and thank God that you're still healthy(healthy enough to read this already, stop whining...) and that you're alive(alive enough to still be laughing... or smiling) right now!

Now, I'm doing some updating on stuff recently. This pic here is for those of you who asked me to show you some friends of mine over here.(That'd be YOU, Aaron... Heheh...)
These are my 3 other roommates. From left: Myself, Zhang Yixun(PRC), Tian Ge a.k.a. Rooney(PRC-from Harbin), Arvind(from JB).

We're all almost like brothers now. Talking abt school, the funny-accented Chinese teacher-mentor, the pretty girls in the hostel(*blush*), occasionally(like once a day) hack away at DotA on Tian Ge's laptop, helping each other strecth those painful muscles.. and also sharing our activities throughout the day!

Hmmm.... Girls!! Is this tiger cute or what? I got him at the Night Safari the other day. Forgot to share it with you all. It has a nice feeling to it.

Oh... And guys? Don't worry... I've not been possessed by any oestrogen-releasing evil spirit and do silly girlish stuff like name this tiger.

(Broggo... His name. :P)

20-02-07 Singapore Night Safari(16-02-07)

Event #4: Night Safari

Neale, my 'BOSS' CG leader brought me out that night together with another Sarawakian friend of his, Nyaring to the Night Safari. The drive there was unexpectedly long. We were at the edge of Singapore and Malaysia already when we finally got there.

First things first... Dinner! Bongo Burgers!
We both just let Neale do the ordering. When the food came... Well, the DRINKS came first.

Interesting 'cups', eh? Hahah... Wait till you see the burgers and chips!

Notice the chips? Take a closer look at the burgers...

Nothing too special? take a CLOSER look.

BIG and BEEFY! REAL beef pattes! I would say this is DEFINITELY on par with BK's Whopper and McD's Big Mac!

We joined the 'Creatures of The Night' Show first. Many animals were so well-trained and cute and adorable and obedient(most of the time) and... Well... Even the TRAINER was entertaining!

They had this kid come up to test some mongoose-squirrel-like type of animal(which i forgot the name) smell out the grape in his hand.

This big, (not-so-)macho man was 'volunteered' up by his friends to have this huge python/anaconda be hung around him. He could NOT wait to get off the stage. Poor guy...

Going back to the first place, I got some pics taken with 3 animals for a reasonable price of $10(which goes back to the animals).

You can tell what animals they are, aye?
Oh and don't worry about me. I could still see where the snake was going. I was wearing contacts anyway... Besides, they're supposed to be well-trained and harmless, right? Uh... Miss Zookeeper, please don't stand so far away...

Then, we watched the indigenious ppl of Borneo perform. They're basically the ppl that Nyaring see everyday back home for Nyaring.

This guy was actually brought to that 'high position' on his STOMACH! WOW!! STRONG ABS!! *Whistles 'huiuwit!'*

The others' were blowing the darts using their blowpipe-thingies to pop the balloons. Cool...
The fire-breathing performance.

I was just really impressed by their long breaths. They could keep breathing out fire for a LOT longer than I could breath air!

The animals were only visible to us and not the camera so can't show you any pics of 'em. Sorry. This reservoir was just breathtaking! HAD to take a picture of it.

Such calm waters, eh?

Our LAST picture together before leaving as midnight was crawling closer.

That's Nyaring in the middle!

Visits to places like these just help me appreciate how wonderful God's creations are and the blatant examples of the irresponsibility of humans! I say this Night Safari is a MUST-visit for anyone who comes to Singapore!! WHEE!!!

19-02-07 CNY Celebration in VJ! (16-02-07)

Event #3: pre-CNY celebration in Victoria JC!!

We had to make a banner with our class.(one each class) All these were later put all around the school to decorate the school, with most going to the hall...

This one's my PERSONAL favourite.

Oh... I DIDN'T ask that guy to be there and pose for my cam. He just happened to be part of the band, which was up there and he just happened to look down. Seriously! I DON'T KNOW HIM!!

THIS one's the one MY CT Group made, no thanks to me at all.
Looks quite professional, don't you think so?
Anyway... Getting on to the celebration. As usual, it started off with the lion dance.

Poor lion, so lonely... Should invent a lioness as comapny and THEN they'll have cubs and then it's the birth of the 'lion CUB dance'!!
Then, after reading my previous entry, the 'kiasu' spirit of VJ was unleashed and... *POOF* They let the Indian Cultural Society(ICS) AND the Malay Cultural Society(MCS) perform!~ For CHINESE New Year!! Heheh... jk... Anyway...

The guys part was cooler... VERY amusing. With the 'moonwalk' thing... The cool moves...
Okay... Wushu... Can't say much. Just reminds me of OUR own wushu back in CH. Heehee...

MCS performance...
Moving on... The CNY costume parade. Sillyly funny. Hahah.. RELI! Okla. Sumtimes i think i say useless stuff, since I can't even explain HOW it was funny. heheh...

Following that, Chinese Orchestra(CO). Now, THIS one I was VERY impressed! They palyed like a REAL CO! Like... A REAL ONE!! Heheh... What's more they introduced a few WESTERN string instruments to jive it up, so cool!!

They then had the guests-of-honour, the elderly ppl sing some CNY songs.(Together with our cute principal, Mr. Chan...)
After the teachers left, it was MASS DANCE TIME!! It was really cool, the WHOLE SCHOOL knowing all the dances!! THIS is something that REALLY builds up unity! COOL!!
The 2nd pic's the ppl from my CT Group. Heheh... The guys were on my side so I couldn't take pics of them, you CAN'T blame me... *blinks innocently*
Anyway... I'm sure the elderly really enjoyed themselves, getting to sing on the stage, in the center of attention of so many ppl. Sometimes, IMHO, the attention on earth is only temporary so... Don't focus that much on it eh? Think of stuff that are more-than-temporary... the stuff that are ETERNAL, you know what I mean?

18-02-07 Valentine's Night in Victoria Hall (14 Feb '07)

Event #2: The dinner that night.

Remember that 'Victoria Idol' poster I shew the other day? ('Shew' SHOULD be the past tense of 'show' la... 'draw-drew', 'fly-flew', 'show'...SHEW lo!!) Neh... The 'YOU CAN SHINE!' ah... Aiyah... Fergeddit!! This one ah...

Well, the finals was on Valentine's Day night(as written in the poster...) in conjunction with the CNY Dinner. I got ready half an hour earlier to get a good table. The hall looked quite grand actually...

Initially, I thought the food looked nice and was feeling delighted that we're having a steamboat after all this while...

I only realized how bad the situation was when everone came.

We had no choice of OTHER food(except noodles and vercimilli)
We did not have ENOUGH food for all(Our table had around 11 ppl...)
Anyway, we got over that soon enough and decided to just have fun. Heheh.. I started off by starting this scandal thing... Heehee...
Arvind and Ming Hui!! WOOHOO! (Another proof of racial harmony among Malaysians-:P *clap**clap*)

Lee Kee and Hui Ying! The 'CUTE' couple! No, seriously... They both DO look cute together... :P

The whole hall was packed with all the boarders, with everyone sitting at the tables with their cliques... I was sitting with the OTHER Malaysian scholars.

These here are a few of the Indonesian scholars and 2 Malaysian flow-thru scholars(Aravind-2nd from left, Wei An-2nd from right)

Okay, so we got started...

Ugghhh... From this angle it suddenly looks like 'kueh chap' with balls of some animal and some other pointy part of it...

Here's the 'Before & After' pics... That's Sebastian between Hui Ying and Ming Hui

As we got to the end-point of eating, the 'Victoria Idol' finals got started. They even had the 'Idol song', so funny... Hahah... Okay, you won't get the joke unless you were actually THERE watching it...

Finalist #1: Fritzy & Stephanie(I think...) - Hip-hop mixed with some contemporary dance

Finalist #2: A pair of GUY friends singing...

Finalist #3: A pair of GIRL friends singing this time... What happened to the couples? I mean... it IS Valentine's Day...
The girl on the right sings very well. The one on the left was singing a guy's part so it was... kinda weird.

Finalist #4: Eeeerrr... I jz saw this cute kid here taking pics using most probably his DAD's hp. So young already can use... Wahliew eh... Kids nowadays...

Finalist #4: The Indian dance. Interesting...

Finalist #5: 'Pao' - A Thai girl. That's jz her nickname. I can't remember her full name. Maybe not even her herself, thus the nick! Okay, jk... She DOES!

She sings soprano for our school choir so... You can guess how good she is also.
Finalist #6: This guy singing some love song, resulting in a teacher(a guy...) upon asked to give comments said that he's in love with this guy... YUCK! :)

Finalist #7: ANOTHER pair of girls singing and dancing.

That IS a girl on the left...

Finalist #8: A solo by this PRC girl, Tian Yuan or sth... Quite a sweet voice. She had good friend-supporters, obviously...

And finally...

Finalist #9: Heheh... They KNOW how to save the best for last! ZHANG YIXUN!! My roommate!!
Looks pro, don't he? He's said to be the Josh Groban of our hostel. Talk about hot stuff... Must have ended his 'bachelordom' that night...

The 9 finalists during the 'Result Show'...

... The top 3...

... And...
you guessed it... Yixun's the First Victoria Idol!!
Wow... Talk abt instant stardom... Heheh... Don't worry, Yixun was behind the screen celebrating witht he guys already. These girls were congratulating the other girls.

Here's a close to this entry. The few of us Malaysian scholars.

(Back row: Me, Lee Kee, Shirley, Sharon, Ming Hui and Ngit Ann; Front row: Arvind, Xing Ji and Sebastian)
Oh and this is the prize for the Table Games that we won.(For guessing the thing in 10 pictures.)
We're supposed to SHARE this? among 10-11 ppl from the whole table? HAHAH!!! On the bright side, at least we had fun and got a great time of laughter together. Heheh...
One great thing I learnt from all this is once again that everyone has their own talents and many a times we tend to be able to see them until the circumstances arise. Never belittle ANYONE!!
