15-10-06 Ignorance & the 'power of love'

Listening to the sermon in church left me thinking of how we actually already know a lot of stuff yet we require people to teach us to realize it again. I mean.. have you experienced a time when other ppl was teaching or preaching sth n then u suddenly go like: 'hmmm.. that makes sense. That's what I thought.' Obviously, we know how things SHOULD be but we still don't do what SHOULD be done. I guess the thing that tells us what's right is "conscience". But we tend to push it aside most of the time, eh?

Then... I was thinking of the news from Friday's paper. This boy in London hung himself after being dumped by a girlfriend. Sometimes, we try to make ourselves seem so noble by doing stupid stuff and say that it's all out of love for our partner. Some ppl do not even REALIZE what they're abt to do is stupid but just go ahead with it 'for the sake of love'. However... If love IS present, then our partner would NOT ask us to do sth senseless, right? This is why ppl say 'love is blind'. Some naive ppl pollute the real meaning of love.

"Clarity of mind means clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves." ~ Blaise Pascal (1623-1662)

... See...?
